GSF become new licence holder for Sunshine Coast Lightning

Sunshine Coast Lightning, one of Australia's most successful sporting franchises, has announced a significant change in ownership. Global Sports Fund Management Group (GSF) will become the new license holder beginning October 1, 2025.

Since it’s establishment as a start-up team in partnership with the University of Sunshine Coast in 2016, Lightning has evolved into one of the country's premier sporting organisations, developing a strong connection with the Sunshine Coast region and becoming one of Australia's most recognised elite women's teams.

GSF co-owners Justin Pascoe and Lee Hagipantelis have expressed enthusiasm about taking the helm of this prestigious franchise. Pascoe, who has longstanding personal connections to the Sunshine Coast region, emphasized his commitment to building upon the strong foundations established by Melbourne Storm.

"We want to acknowledge the Melbourne Storm organisation, who have done an outstanding job in establishing this club and setting such strong foundations. Our responsibility now is to build on that legacy," said Pascoe.

Hagipantelis highlighted the importance of local ownership: "What excites me most is the opportunity to combine our expertise in sport with the incredible passion of this community. Local ownership matters, it ensures decisions are made with the Sunshine Coast at heart."
